¾ cup butter or margarine, melted
⅔ cup evaporated milk, divided
1 box German Chocolate Cake mix
1 bag caramels
1 (12 oz) bag (or 2 cups) chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add melted butter and ⅓ cup evaporated milk to the cake mix; mix well. Pour HALF this mixture into a 9×13 pan. It will be thick! Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. While the cake is baking, unwrap caramels and melt with ⅓ cup evaporated milk. Remove cake from oven. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips. Drizzle with caramel mixture. Pat out the remaining cake batter and place strategically over the cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
Note: These will be gooey. Let them set up before cutting.
