Garlic Cheese Grits
2 beaten eggs
½ cup whole milk
16 oz cubed extra sharp cheddar cheese
½ tsp garlic powder
2 cups grits
¼ tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
4 cups (1 quart) chicken broth
2 cups water
1 stick butter
8oz. Grated sharp white cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish. Bring the broth, water, garlic powder, salt and pepper to a boil in a large sauce pan. Stir in the grits and whisk until combined. Reduce the heat to low until grits have absorbed the liquid. Usually about 6 – 8 minutes. Add the cubed cheddar cheese, butter, and milk. Stir until cheese is melted and all combined. Gradually add eggs and stir until combined. Pour mixture into greased pan. Bake for 35 minutes. Top with shredded white cheddar (you can substitute yellow cheddar) and bake an addition 5 – 10 minutes.
