Mrs. Bettye’s Little Party Pizzas
Ingredients:
½ lb of mild sausage
½ lb of hot sausage
1 lb Velvetta
½ tsp oregano
1 or 2 loaves party rye bread
Instructions:
Cook sausage in a large skillet. Do not drain grease. Add Velvetta and stir until melted and mixed into sausage. Remove from heat and stir in oregano. Spread mixture onto party bread slices.
You can toast these up immediately or freeze them for later use. To freeze: place pizza slices on a cookie sheet and place in freezer. Once frozen, seal them in a plastic bag or container and keep frozen until needed.
Note: Mrs. Bettye was dear family friend and an old Southern Belle. She included this note in with her recipe: “Use all hot sausage if serving men only or all mild sausage if serving children only. Best to double the recipe as not to have to make so often.” ☺️
