Mama Rose’s Hot Tamale Dip

Ingredients:

2 green onions, finely chopped

3 Tbs. butter

1 (10 oz) can Rotel tomatoes

1 (19 oz) can plain (no beans) chili

2 (15 oz) cans Hormel hot tamales, paper removed and coarsely chopped

1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1 pound extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated

Chips for serving

Instructions:

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat, saute the green onions in butter until tender.
  • Add tomatoes with their juices and the chili.  Mix well.  Add the tamales, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.  Stir well, mashing up the tamales as you stir. Cook for 5 minutes until everything is well combined.
  • Add in the cheese and stir until melted.
  • Pour in a serving dish and top with cheese and garnishes.  Serve hot with chips
